Experts from The Sports Consultancy have been supporting the ECB to produce an inaugural Impact Report for the game of cricket in 2023.
TSC was engaged to undertake this first-of-its-kind project, and the findings highlight cricket’s profound impact on individuals, teams and communities across England and Wales.
In consultation with the ECB, TSC identified several core outcome areas that centre on how cricket is improving lives and connecting communities. The report also unpacks how the ECB and partners are growing the game and promoting environmental sustainability.
TSC Director, Siân Jenkins said “This project has been a great team effort from TSC and we were delighted to be tasked by the ECB to support them by lending our impact research and analysis expertise. With several passionate cricket fans and participators in our midst, it was a fitting project to throw ourselves into.”
The report finds that cricket serves as a catalyst for social engagement, fostering active lifestyles, life skills development and community unity.
“It’s clear that through targeted programmes and activities, cricket has experienced significant growth across its landscape, evident in record-breaking tickets sold and broadcast hours in 2023.” added Jenkins.
TSC experts involved in this project: Siân Jenkins, Matthew Harraghy, Stewart Gray, Mayank Sohani, and Samina Musa.
