North Warwickshire Borough Council has appointed the Sports Consultancy and S&P Architects to conduct a feasibility study for the provision of new indoor leisure facilities in Coleshill to replace the current Leisure Centre. The study will include:
– An analysis of likely demand for sports facilities
– Preparation of initial sketch plans
– Preparation of capital cost estimates
– Preparation of revenue projections
– An assessment of sources of possible funding for the project (including prudential borrowing and potential sources of external grant support)
– Identification of key risks and issues (including any pertinent planning considerations)
– Preparation of a viable project timetable / development (construction) programme.
The study will include an appraisal of the deliverability, viability and financial sustainability of two site options (Coleshill Memorial Park and Coleshill School) and two potential build options, leading to the identification of a preferred option.
The findings from the studies will be considered by the Council before a decision is taken on how to proceed with the development of new facilities.
Peter Wheaton, Leisure Facilities Manager, who is leading the study from NWBC said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the community of North Warwickshire to continue to enjoy quality access to health, recreation and wellbeing activities in Coleshill. The Borough Council are committed to deliver improved leisure provision in Coleshill to the best specification, location and facility mix, value for money for residents and make certain the facility meets highest possible standards. This is a once in a generation opportunity and we have a responsibility to ensure we get this right for the community and future generations.”
Tom Pinnington, Project Manager from the Sports Consultancy, who is leading the project team said:
“The team at the Sports Consultancy is delighted to have been appointed to complete this important study for the replacement of sports facilities for the community in and around Coleshill.
