The brief
The Sports Consultancy has been working with Spelthorne Borough Council since 2016 on the development of the new £45 million ultra-energy-efficient Passivhaus Leisure Centre. We completed an options appraisal, feasibility study, business case analysis and operator procurement.
Our Solution
We investigated the financial implications of a number of alternative facility mix for the new leisure centre, to significantly improve the projected revenue performance and help to reduce facility deficiencies in the borough. Within the subsequent procurement process, we conducted soft market testing, developed tender documentation and negotiated contracts.
The new centre boasts a 25m swimming pool, learner pool and splash pad, 200-station gym and studios, sports hall, squash courts, interactive climbing, 3G pitches and a café. TSC played a pivotal role in the project’s successful development, and procurement of a long term operating partner. The centre is set to be the first large wet and dry Passivhaus leisure centre in the UK managed by an external operator.
