Options appraisal for a new Woolwich Leisure Centre

The Brief
The Sports Consultancy worked in partnership with the Royal Borough of Greenwich to investigate the replacement of the 40 year old Waterfront Centre with an £80m community leisure centre in an alternative location in Woolwich town centre. The facility mix for the new venue includes an 8 lane 25m swimming pool, a 280 station H&F gym, a 6-court swimming pool, and a leisure pool.
The Solution
The work involved completing a review of the Borough wide Indoor Sports Facility Strategy and options appraisal, to identify the most suitable facility option for the new development. Following identification of the preferred facility option, we developed the detailed business plan to identify the funding requirements and affordability of the scheme.
After successfully completing our work, the Council decided to move forward with the delivery of the project. The new centre is on track to open its doors to the public in 2025, marking a significant milestone for the community.
