Funding Secured for New £13m Bromsgrove Leisure Centre . Investment in Bromsgrove’s new leisure centre will increase by £1.5m after Bromsgrove District Council agreed to accept a lottery grant offer from Sport England. The cash boost would increase the authority’s £11.5m investment in the new leisure centre to £13m. The Sports Consultancy has been supporting the Council since the inception of the project, advising on financial feasibility and the detailed business case. Our work has helped secure the investment by Sport England. The Sports Consultancy is now leading a competitive procurement process to appoint a management contractor for the site following completion, planned for 2017. The new centre will be built next to its predecessor, the Dolphin Centre, on School Drive in Bromsgrove. It will include a 25m x 6 lane pool, learner pool with moveable floor, 100 station health and fitness suite, 3 multi-purpose studios, 25 station spinning studio with storage for bikes, spa with health and treatment rooms and a clip and climb facility. Bromsgrove District Council’s portfolio holder for leisure Councilor Rod Laight said: “We’re over the moon. We can see the extra funding would make a real difference for a lot of people in our district for years to come, and help this council achieve its wider strategy of improving health and well-being by increasing opportunities and participation in active leisure.” Following completion of the new centre the old centre will be demolished, a new car park will be built and the remaining land will be made available for sale and re-development to contribute towards funding of the new centre. Planning permission has been secured and building work is set to commence this spring.
