Analysing the economic impact of Formula 1
Events
The Brief
A global leader in motorsport, Formula 1 has a strong focus on economic impact. TSC was engaged to produce economic impact reports for races including the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort and the United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas, showcasing the value of F1 events to host economies.
The Solution
TSC conducted three impact assessments using the eventIMPACTS methodology, integrating economic, media, social, business, and commercial outcomes. By applying region-specific Leontief output multipliers, we extended the analysis to include indirect and induced impacts.
We also evaluated social and community outcomes, business and commerce benefits, and the influence of hosting models and side events on Grand Prix success. Tailored reports were produced for each race, detailing social, economic, and destination impacts. These insights empower host cities to measure the effectiveness of sports-induced legacies, ensuring sustainable benefits for local economies and communities.
