Football Beyond Borders (FBB) a charity whose goal is to use the power of football to change the lives of young people, and The Sports Consultancy (TSC) announce a two year partnership.

Football Beyond Borders is committed to addressing exclusion and suspension of young people from school, particularly from minority backgrounds, and it has picked up significant endorsement across the footballing community, including from Marcus Rashford, Sam Kerr, Ian Wright, Lotte Wubben-Moy, and Rodri.

The FBB x TSC partnership enables young people in the FBB program to experience the business of sport, exposing them to experience slices of real-life roles and careers in the industry. FBB will also be TSC’s official charity of the year for 2024.

FBB founder, Jack Reynolds, is delighted with the innovative partnership. “While we have already made a tangible impact to the lives of young people across the country in school, (95% staying in school, and 11x more likely to pass their GCSEs in English and Maths), I know there is more we can do to help them think about their next step and life beyond school.

“The TSC partnership is that crucial piece in the jigsaw puzzle. It will expose them to career paths and roles within a space (football and sport) that they enjoy, and be an informative inspiration in their decision-making about their futures.”

The partnership is a series of tangible learning modules and activities over 24 months ranging from on-site presentations and workshops, to mentorship schemes and work experience placements.

TSC Founder, Angus Buchanan, said: “We want to help increase diversity in our industry, and give back to the community. We are very excited to partner with Football Beyond Borders (FBB) as part of our Community and Grassroots initiative within our EDI framework.

The primary goal in our EDI workstream is to open up the sports business industry to communities which would not normally have the chance to access it, thereby diversifying the applicant ecosystem across the full spectrum of sports business.

“We have partnered with FBB to ensure that young people from areas of socio-economic disadvantage are equipped with the skills to finish school, achieve GCSE grades and develop SEL skills, and have the opportunity to access careers in the sport industry.”

The partnership includes:

  • ‘Architects of the Future’ curriculum: Young people from two different schools will be hosted in TSC’s offices to present a project and participate in an activity related to solving real-life problems in the commercial side of sport, giving a taste of the type of work that TSC does.
  • Mentorship Scheme: TSC staff will be mentors to members of FBB’s ‘Youth Board’, which includes young people from the ages of 16 and above, to provide careers advice and support towards entering the sports industry.
  • Work Experience opportunities: From the second year of our partnership, select members of FBB’s Youth Board will be offered a chance to have work experience at TSC’s offices.
