The number one brewer in Europe, Heineken, has been announced as a national supplier for the IAAF World Indoor Championships Birmingham 2018, which will be held at Arena Birmingham from the 1 to 4 March. The drinks company will be granted exclusive rights to sell bottled cider and beer in the stadium during the event.
Heineken has operations in more than 70 markets globally, making them the world’s most international brewer. Their sponsorship of the IAAF World Indoor Championships builds on their involvement with last summer’s IAAF World Championships and World Para Athletics Championships in London.
Championships Director for the IAAF World Indoor Championships, Joan Durose, said: “We are delighted to have secured Heineken as the national supplier for beer and cider. During the four days of competition we know that thousands of spectators will be coming to Arena Birmingham, creating a wonderful and exciting atmosphere for the athletes.
“Along with spectators, there will also be teams, officials, volunteers and staff in the city so we want to ensure a great visitor experience for all of them.”
Helen Fingland, Heineken’s Regional Sales Director, said: “We’re delighted to build on the success of our sponsorship of the IAAF World Championships London 2017. Athletics is a great platform for our brands and this four-day event will be an exciting start for 2018.”
The IAAF World Indoor Championships Birmingham 2018 is jointly organised by Birmingham City Council and British Athletics on behalf of the IAAF.
