The ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) has furthered its ties to Rio de Janeiro ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games by finalising an agreement for a World Tour event to be held in the Brazilian city from 2014. Rio is set to stage a World Tour 500 event – the ATP’s third highest tier of tournaments behind the four grand slams and the ATP World Tour Masters 1000.
