EUROPEAN ATHLETICS INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS GLASGOW 2019 BOOSTED BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW PARTNER IN SCOTRAIL in another deal brokered by our rights marketing team and contracted by TSC Legal.
ScotRail and European Athletics Indoor Championships Glasgow 2019 have agreed an exciting new partnership deal for next year’s Championships, which comes to Glasgow in March 2019.
Some of the world’s leading athletes will descend on Glasgow’s Emirates Arena between 1-3 March as the Championships return to the iconic city for the first time since 1990. There will be 650 athletes from more than 45 nations setting their sights on glory.
ScotRail delivers more than 86 million passenger journeys across the country every year, meaning it won’t just be the athletes coming to Glasgow in March putting in the miles. In fact, ScotRail records over 1.6 billion passenger miles annually and now provides greener, faster and longer services than ever before.
ScotRail will provide a fantastic source of promotional support for the upcoming Championships, with various hotspots in Glasgow receiving a brand new look with some fantastic Glasgow 2019 branding that includes some of Scotland’s favourite athletes.
Peter O’Connell, Head of Commercial Development at Scotrail said: “We are delighted to partner such a prestigious sporting event which will attract visitors from all over Europe.
Throughout the year, we regularly provide additional services to support major events and we are looking forward to be once again playing an important role in helping people travel to and from Glasgow.”
The city of Glasgow welcomes the return of the Championship as it continues to build its reputation as a truly world class sporting city. The competition will be the second major European event held in Glasgow within twelve months after a hugely successful inaugural European Championships last week. Glasgow continues to receive global recognition for this reputation with a coveted top five ranking as a sporting destination.
Billy Garrett, Director of Sport and Events at Glasgow Life and Co-Chair of the Glasgow 2019 Steering Committee, said: “We are delighted to have Scotrail joining as an Official Partner for the European Athletics Indoor Championships Glasgow 2019. To have one of Scotland’s largest establishments on board is fantastic for the campaign and I’m sure their support will prove to be invaluable both in the lead up to March and during event time itself.”
Cherry Alexander MBE, Major Events Director at British Athletics and Sport Director for Glasgow 2019, said: “It is great news for Glasgow 2019 to have such an established Scottish partner on board. ScotRail will prove to be such an important partner, not only in their support in the lead up to March, but will play a key role during event time too.”
Paul Bush OBE, VisitScotland’s Director of Events, said: “Transport plays a vital role in the successful delivery of an event so it is great to have Scotrail on-board as an official partner for the European Athletics Indoor Championships Glasgow 2019.
Along with the Championships other partners, their support will be instrumental in delivery an outstanding event that will reinforce Scotland’s reputation as the perfect stage for events.”
