Sportsworld has appointed London-based sports marketing specialist The Sports Consultancy as its rights representation agency for the Tribal Series, the UK’s first and only mass-participation sports series dedicated to the UK’s 12 million disabled.
Sportsworld launched Tribal Series in 2015 in collaboration with Paralympian Sophia Warner. The inaugural event, the Para Tri – a mass-participation triathlon at Dorney Lake in August – attracted over 300 athletes, 2,000 attendees, 30-minute broadcasts on Channel 4, British Eurosport and Sky Sports and the support of corporate partners such as Barclays plc and Ottobock.
Commenting on the appointment, Marc Hope, Director, Rights Marketing at The Sports Consultancy said: ”Following the launch of our rights marketing practice earlier this year, this appointment joins a broad portfolio of events spanning mass participation, high profile televised sport and entertainment properties (including events at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park) and major international federations that we are representing. I am passionate about the opportunities presented by disability sport, having been involved in sponsorship in this space over the years, and am excited to introduce the Tribal Series to our extensive brand network.”
Tribal Series Project Director, Sophia Warner added, “London 2012 demonstrated the enormous opportunity for para sports and their athletes and as we build up to the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio I believe there are many brands who will see enormous benefit of communicating with the UK’s 12 million disabled. As the UK’s only mass-participation sports series dedicated to this audience and set to grow to four events in 2016 we are perfectly poised to provide the platform for those brands.”
